Better than thou attitude?

It’s amazing how many “interesting” private messages and spam I get from people with nothing better to do.
Here is a perfect example from Ernesto, clan leader of Ginnunga.
=======================
Two things.
On your subsite, http://www.karashur.net/mmorpg/ you are breaking copyright laws (citation rights) with your article “Darkfall @ E3″. You do not have the explicit content of the author of the litterary work to publish it in its whole content.
Second of all, you link to sites that sell virtual property in the site banner.
I will not read reply on this board, but you can mail me at blah@blah.com if you have any questions.
======================
First off, the news is cleary stated in the first paragraph to be produced by the Combine guild. The author is named, and a link is provided for the user to read the entire post at the original site.
Second, anyone with a pair of eyes can plainly see that the article isn’t produced in it’s entirety.
Section 107 of the Copyright Act plainly says:
[T]he fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies of phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.
The “Darkfall @ E3″ article is a form of a trackback between two sites:
TrackBack is a mechanism for communication between blogs: if a blogger writes a new entry commenting on, or referring to, an entry found at another blog, and both blogging tools support the TrackBack protocol, then the commenting blogger can notify the other blog with a “TrackBack ping”; the receiving blog will typically display summaries of, and links to, all the commenting entries below the original entry. This allows for conversations spanning several blogs that readers can easily follow. -wikipedia
Let’s face it, the MMORPG scene is pitiful at the moment for anyone who loves player versus player combat and the extremely social gameplay it provides. Many people believe Darkfall is the *only* hope on the horizon. An increase in exposure for Darkfall will benefit the potential playerbase and the developers.
As far as the links to adena and wow gold sites are concerned…the text is self-explanatory and definetly not meant to “mislead” the viewer. We take a realistic view on the sales of online currency. The proposed war the self-righteous elite have created is a textbook example of hyprocrisy and carebearitis. I’ve obtained an enormous amount of inside information from spending way too much time being a clan leader in Lineage 2. Most (if not all) of these “generals” look the other way when one of their members buys adena.
They only put their virtual foot down if they receive bad publicity.
How many times has one of their members been “hacked”, lost all their gear, and bought adena to replace the stolen gear without being kicked out of the clan?
Or the many people who have used second accounts and bots simply for healing and buffing(without being booted from their clan of course)?
Let’s not forget about the people who sell their accounts + adena only to play the game at a later date and join the same clan that “hates” farmers?
These are the same people who complain when “their” account is banned, hacked or screwed up in any way. All of the time they invested in obtaining “their” items…
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again…as long as developers focus on uber gear, time invested, and currency instead of player skill, there will always be a huge amount of people selling these items.
If the author of the article would like me to stop promoting their site, the great first-hand observation, and the game that we ALL wish will become our next addiction (Darkfall) please send me a message.
