World of Warcraft: PvP Panel Discussion2009-10-24While much of the World of Warcraft PvP Panel was dedicated to the hows and whys of designing the game's battlegrounds, a few choice tidbits of information were revealed during the discussion that preceded the Q&A session. Once the attendees were able to ask questions, it was clear that their most pressing concern was balance -- specifically the underpowered state of their own played classes, and the overpowered classes everyone else plays (at least, that's the way players often seem to see things).

Lake Wintergrasp is the fruit of Blizzard's experimentation with world PvP in areas like Silithus and the Plaguelands. Here, players on any type of realm will be able to engage in open world PvP, and some form of persistent incentive will be implemented to make it worthwhile for players to participate.

There will be a new battleground as well, which will be focused on the game's new siege weapons and destructible buildings. This objective-based game will reward the team that best makes use of the siege weapons, winning once the enemy base is destroyed. Interestingly enough, siege weapons aren't just for destroying buildings. You will, for instance, be able to use an Undead meat wagon to chuck bodies at other players, or you can simply lob a boulder onto your enemies' skulls with a catapult.
